The Eastern province U17 Girls Team has made a strong start at the ongoing U17 provincial trials posting two wins in two matches on the opening day of the trials.
Eastern beat North Western 2-0 before easing past Luapula 6-1 to shoot to the summit of Group A on six points. They will face a tough test at 12h45 today when the meet a Lusaka province side who are also on six points following their wins on Thursday.
Lusaka were 2-0 winners over Luapula in their opener before narrowly beating Western 1-0 in a tightly contested tie at Sunset stadium. Earlier, Western beat North-Western 1-0 in the opening match of the trials.
In Group B, Northern province easily beat Copperbelt 3-0 before drawing goalless with Muchinga to lead the table on four points, one better second placed Southern province who beat Central 3-0.
Muchinga drew with Northern 0-0.
Action continues this morning in both group A and B at Sunset Stadium and NASDEC ground in Lusaka.
After the matches today, a panel of selectors will pick 22 players that will face the All-Stars team on Saturday, 6 January 2023 at Sunset stadium.
