Amity Shamende scored the only goal of the game as Green Eagles ended Nkana’s nine game unbeaten run.
Nkana went into the match looking to keep their mathematical chance of winning the league alive while Eagles were looking to quickly return to winning ways after their 2-1 loss at home to Nchanga Rangers last weekend.
After what seemed like an uninspiring hour, Amity Shamende produced a beautiful free kick in the 70th minute to put Eagles in the lead.
Nkana could not find a way back as Eagles held on to win the match, 1-0 it ended.
The loss means Nkana’s mathematical chance of winning the league comes to an end and they will only remain in the race for CAF Confederation Cup football.
The win takes Eagles to 5th place with 45 points.
In the early kick-off, Perry Mutapa’s NAPSA Stars were held to a goalless draw by Chambishi at Nkana Stadium.
The result means Power Dynamos could seal their 7th League title win next weekend in the derby when they host Nkana should Green Buffaloes fail to beat Kansanshi away in Kalumbila.
