Lubambo: DR Congo was prepared for us

Zambia National Team captain Lubambo Musonda says the Leopards of DR Congo were prepared for the Chipolopolo Boys in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw.

Musonda said the team went into the match looking to play their game but DR Congo was ready for them. He went to describe the match as tough but was happy with the result.

The former Power Dynamos winger is okay with the point from the match though he wanted the team to get maximum points.

“The game was tough, it was not an easy game. We went in the game and tried to play our tactics but DR Congo was prepared for us. It was a tough game but a good result for the team,” he said.

“I wouldn’t say we are satisfied, we needed more from the game, we wanted to get maximum points. Football being football we could not get the win so a point is okay with us.”

Next up for the Chipolopolo Boys is a match against the Taifa Stars if Tanzania in a Tanganyika derby, a match Musonda expects to be tough but says the team will work on rectifying their mistakes from the first game and push for maximum points.

“Tanzania is a good team. Every game here is not an easy game but we will prepare adequately, we will try and rectify the mistakes we made in the first game and work harder to get the three points,” he said.

“I believe in the team, it’s in good shape. Wednesday’s game we did not play how we were supposed to play but I still believe in the team, and we will definitely go through.

“I would say football is played on the pitch and there sometimes you don’t get the result you want no matter how much you work. They (fans) should not neglect us but keep supporting us and we work harder to give them the results they want.”

“I would not say it’s clear because the tournament is not decided in one day. We have two more games to play and anything is possible. We will keep fighting for three points,” he added.

A Kings Kangwa goal was cancelled by a Yoane Wissa strike for the two teams to share spoils at the Laurent Pokou Stadium on Wednesday.

Zambia plays Tanzania on Sunday in their next Group F match at 19h00 Central African Time.

  1. These boys are usually they type that have natural talent they move to Europe without going through the local league. These are the Mbolas, Fwayo, Jacob, Kalaba…they are smart and, Tiger Kasama boy. So let’s have kasama boy, Paston and Fashion upfront. Lameck in midfield he showed he can defend. Now we are saying they will be interchanging positions so that midfield doesn’t struggle.

    • Just joking, but a joke is serius thing. But Kangwanda can also play. And let’s have a Buzz Bomb in midfield, that boy from power Dynamos. I think we have serious assets.
