Zambia national team head coach Beston Chambeshi has asked the fans to have faith in his team summoned for next month’s back-back Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier matches against Equatorial Guinea.
Chambeshi said the Copper Bullets are working hard to make sure they achieve the goal of qualifying for the World Cup.
“Let’s believe in this team, it’s the only team we have and don’t doubt us, we are working hard with the boys and the boys are putting in a lot to see to it that we qualify to the World Cup,” he said.
“We assembled yesterday and all the players are in which is good for the technical staff, We are happy with the response and all we looking for is to prepare well for the first game against Equatorial Guinea.”
Zambia was handed a 2-0 loss at home by Tunisia in matchday two clash at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium but Chambeshi however believes how they will come back is what is important.
“We have to believe in ourselves first and we will look at Equatorial Guinea when we start looking at our opponents later on,” he said.
“There is no pressure on us because everyone knows what we want to achieve. You can lose a game but come back stronger and win the remaining game and the road will be okay for us.”
English Premier League duo of striker Patson Daka and midfielder Enock Mwepu may again miss out on the home clash if Zambia does not move away from the UK red list for COVID-19 but Chambeshi feels that has enough depth despite wanting the duo to be available.
Chambeshi was also quick to reveal that the door is still open for experienced players but they have to be actively playing for their clubs.
“We still discussing a plan B but we have the manpower. We also hope that (Enock) Mwepu and Patson (Daka) can join us in the second leg,” he said.
” If we have some players who are still active from the 2012 team we need players to beef up the team. The door is open and we still looking at experienced players but we need players who are active not just calling names.”
“We need to put our heads together as a technical bench because we don’t have ample time to prepare the team. We will base our strength on the first game we will play and in the second game, we will pick some things from the first game,” he added.
The Chipolopolo Boys will set up an international camp in Cameroon ahead of their away fixture against Equatorial Guinea on 7th October before hosting them three days later at Heroes stadium.

Mr. Chambeshi sure, are you telling us that Players like Rainfold, Sunzu and Shonga can be compared to some of those that you have called? A good examples of such players are Chapa, Solomon, Brian and Silwimba. What are they doing in the squad? I think you saw how they were exposed in the home game against Tunisia. We had no aggressive finishers.
Wake up and stop day dreaming and hallucinating, Zambia can not qualify to the world cup period. The players you have are raw and untainable
@ Jacob Chisenga
True , most the players selected are below average and Chambeshi is pleading fans to have faith . Very ironic !!!
All I want to see is Chipolopolo team win
The man is really getting on my nerves. I would have preferred Micho to this mess. Chambeshi clearly has his favorites and it will cost the whole nation another 4 years of waiting. Awe mukwai ine I’m putting in for a transfer to join South Africa or Naijah!
Transfer better plan my learned friend and l shall write the recommendation letter!
@Positive Thinking
Am joining you 🤚🏿
What’s the drawback with Ng’ongas perfomance that he cannot be called to the national team? He is more effective than the local strikers in this team. I would rather have him than Mukeya and Mwila.
Chambeshi at it once more? WHY CANT HE CLOSE HIS MOUTH
“Zambia national team head coach Beston Chambeshi has asked the fans to have faith in his team”
The fans had faith in the same team last time. You and the team destroyed everything by losing at home to Tunisia. Are you not assumed of yourself, I am shocked? I do not recall any African team that has qualified to the World, having lost a single home game. Teams that qualify from Africa do win all their home games. As for Zambia history is there. Last World cup we lost to Nigeria in Ndola and that was the end of the road. Last AFCON we lost at home to Zimbabwe and that was the end. We have to hope for a miracle; however miracles don’t drop like manna from heaven
The fans support has always been there, however the Zambian coaches like you have had issues with the selection of players has always been an issue. Do you receive money from some of these players you pick???
Why have you left out Emmanuel Banda?? Ka Chambeshi iwe???
The fans had faith in the same team last time. You and the team destroyed everything by losing at home to Tunisia. Are you not Ashamed of yourself,
I feel what we lack as team is the intelligence on and off the ball.
And the technical team do not have the capacity to think on their player’s behalf..
I mean, back in the days we had our own way of playing against north Africans teams..we used to have a plan on how to beat these chaps but now we seem lost.
Players are usually too casual on the ball..for them it’s like they already made it in life hence the reason we don’t have a good number of players in europe
LET’S BE SERIOUS OUR COACH… THE WAY YOU SELECT PLAYERS, ITS NOT ABOUT QUALIFYING ONLY BUT THE QUALITY OF THE PLAYERS YOU PICK, WHO WILL MEET THE LIKES OF RONALDO, MESS AND LIKE…. THE TRANSITION OF PLAYERS IN OUR COUNTRY IS SO POOR.. WHY HAVEN’T YOU INCLUDED THE EXPERIENCED… LOOK AT GHANA AND OTHER COUNTRIES…. AWE MWE
Not with u us a coach you’re hopeless man
This below average coach is taking us 8years backwards and it will be vwry difficult foe us to see glory. Anyway I wont blame but blame kamanga and his group. This faz executive needs to go
We always fail on planning. Chambeshi is not a national team material but a club material eg Nkana who fight for religation. Mr Zimba
This Coach CLEARLY has lost the plot. Kings Kangwa, E.Chilufya, E.Banda and even Ngonga are actively playing for their clubs. I think a good number of the players you have called are unknown and inexperienced players.
Why call International players and bench them for local players you trying to market and get kick backs from Agents like @Justice is saying.
I wish you knew how much stress you put us through as Fans when we lose games we had a chance to win.
