After 15 games played in the first round of the Football Association of Zambia Division 1 South, the league will enter the second round with all teams having at least a game in hand following a 1-week break given by the FAZ south Committee which will only see the league resume in week 17.
Riverplate FC, Blue Arrows, and Zesco United feeder club Zesco Victoria Falls FC find themselves unbeaten in the first round.
Last season 3rd placed team Riverplate FC finds themselves in the top position on 34 points after 14 games with a game in hand followed by Blue Arrows who occupy the second position on 33 points in 15 games with just a point separating the two teams
Riverplate still has a game in hand following the abandonment of a week 14 Fixture against Chikankata Diggers.
Division 1 South winners last season, Sinazongwe United have found the season very difficult after being their issues of forged documents of players at the National League play-offs.
In the process, Sinazongwe United went on to lose 8 starters from the previous season with the likes of Obrey Beene leaving the team and later on joining National league outfits Quatrol Kalumbila FC.
The turning turbines boys Zesco Vic falls who are coached by former ZESCO United assistant coach Alfred Lupiya are currently in 4th place with 29 points, 5 points different with league leaders Riverplate.
Landlords in the region Kalomo Jetters, Kascol Rangers and Maamba Energy stars have continued with their quest to qualify for National league with Kalomo Jetters being an impressive side so far.
Chikankata Diggers seem set for relegation after having one of the worst phases in the club’s history as they found themselves with only 1 win in 15 games and comfortably occupy the last position on the table.
Debutants Young MUZA and Barts FC have found the soils of Division one a little hostile by they still seem set to finish above the likes of Chikankata Diggers, Eastlands, Maamba Energy stars, and Eastlands.
If the current form of top 3 teams continues, the league might be over statistically by week 20 as it will see Riverplate, Blue Arrows, and Zesco Vic falls collide in a space of one month, the one who will be topping the league by week 20 will have a better chance to win the Provincial league if at all they won’t lose focus.
