The Zambia Women’s National Team have qualified for the final of the ongoing COSAFA Women’s Championship. This follows a 2-0 win over Malawi at Wolfson Stadium.
Goals from Ochumba Oseke Lubanji and Fridah Mukoma gave the Copper Queens a well deserved win.
The match was a repeat of the 2023 COSAFA Women’s Championship with Zambia looking to avenge their loss.
After a scoreless 45 minutes the Copper Queens took an early lead in the second after, just seconds in, Ochumba Oseke Lubanji lobbying the goalkeeper after a mix-up in defence.
Fridah Mukoma then doubled the lead in the lead in the 68th minute after dispossessing goalkeeper Mercy Sikelo to make it 2-0, with her fourth goal of the tournament.
The Florence Mwila coached side held on to win the match and seal a spot in the final. They will face the winner between Mozambique and South Africa on Saturday at 15h00.
