Cosafa: Sweet revenge for Cameroon as Zambia bows out

The Zambia Women National team has been eliminated from the ongoing 2018 Cosafa Women Championship after they lost 1 – 0 to Cameroon in the semifinal.

It was sweet revenge for the Central African guest team after they were handed a defeat with a similar scoreline by the Zambians in the group stage.

Zambia again missed Misozi Zulu and Rhoda Chileshe who failed to recover from knocks sustained in the group stage but they held strong against the continental giants until they were undone by a Ngo Edith goal in the 78th minute.

Despite pressing for an equalizer, Cameroon held on to the lead to take the first spot in the final while Zambia will play for bronze against Uganda while South Africa will play Cameroon.

This was the first goal the Beauty Mwamba coached side has conceded at the tournament.

Amazing Zambian team. What a talent, today was that #9 Rachel Kundanadji, got great speed. Then ka #17 Mwakapila the youngest in Zambian team, like Kalaba at 18 years old. Can’t list them all, beautiful Belemu naka usual diva Martha Tembo in defense.
And Zambian coach was marvel… “tekanyeni fye…”
It was just unfortunate to pair the 2 teams once more, and Cameroon being full of professionals.

  2. Proud of you girls, you gave it your best shot , let’s hope Banyana Banyana will be able to stop Cameroon from taking this trophy to Central Africa.
