Zambia Women National team captain Misozi Zulu has revealed that the team is targeting gold at the 2019 COSAFA Women’s Championship that will take place between 31st July and August 11 in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
The Indeni Roses forward believe the team is ready to win the tournament. Zulu also hailed the preparations and also expressed happiness on her return to the team following a lengthy lay off due to injury.
“I feel good to come back to the team. The preparations are good and we ready. This time we want to come out first,” she said.
Spanish based striker Barbara Banda who is also the vice-captain reiterated Zulu’s sentiments saying the team was looking forward to getting good results at the tournament.
“Everyone is in good shape and looking forward to going and participate in COSAFA and get good results, ” Banda told the ZamFoot Crew in an interview.
The team regrouped in Lusaka over the weekend for a 10-day training camp as part preparations for the tournament which will have 12 teams this year.
The draw for the competition will take place on Wednesday, July 3 and will see the 12 teams split into three groups each containing four sides. The top team in each pool will advance to the semifinals along with the best-placed runner-up.
