Copper Queens start preparations for Angola

The Zambia Women’s National Team has started their preparations for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) second round back-to-back matches against Angola.

The Copper Queens entered camp in Lusaka on Sunday to begin training ahead of the Angola showdown.

The ZamFoot Crew visited the team in training at Sunset Stadium on Wednesday morning. The team looked sharp as they went through their paces under the guidance of coach Florence Mwila.

Kazakhstan based duo of midfielder Ireen Lungu and defender Martha Tembo were part of the group that trained at Sunset Stadium.

ZESCO Ndola Girls trio of Leticia Lungu, Avell Chitundu and Fridah Kabwe will only join the team tomorrow as they have a game against Chipata Girls at Trade Fair Ground this afternoon.

The remainder of the foreign-based players will join camp when the FIFA women’s international window opens on 27 November 2023.

Zambia will be seeking a fourth consecutive appearance at the WAFCON and build on their highest ever podium finish when they won bronze at the expense of Nigeria at the 2022 WAFCON held in Morocco.
