Copper Queens squad beefed up by Lungowe and Charity Mubanga

The Zambia Women National Team technical bench has made two injury instigated inclusions after Sara Jere and Eneless Phiri withdrew from the women camp ahead of next week’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) second round, first leg qualifier against Angola in Luanda.

ZISD Women’s striker Namasiku Lungowe and her ZESCO Ndola Girls counterpart Charity Mubanga have been called up to the senior team following injuries sustained by Sara Jere and Eneless Phiri during league matches.

Lungowe and Mubanga have scored eight goals and six goals respectively in the league this season. Another player called up by the technical bench is ZANACO Ladies defender Thelma Cheela.

Twenty-one players comprising 18 locals and three foreign based players are in camp. Captain Barbra Banda, Racheal Kundananji, Racheal Nachula, Prisca Chilufya, Misozi Zulu and Hellen Chanda will join the team directly in Luanda.

The second leg will be played on 5 December, 2023 at Levy Mwanawasa stadium in Ndola. Winner over two legs will qualify for the 15th edition of the WAFCON that will be held in Morocco in 2024.
