The Zambia Women’s National team has been put in pot 4 ahead of next Saturday’s Draw for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 in Auckland/Tāmaki Makaurau.
The World Football governing body, FIFA has confirmed that October’s FIFA/Coca-Cola Women’s World Ranking will be used to determine the seedings for the Draw for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2022.
Zambia is joined in pot 4 by the Philippines and fellow continental representatives, South Africa, Nigeria and Morocco. The three winners from the play off groups will complete the pot.
In pot 1, Co-hosts New Zealand and Australia join four time Champions, USA, two time winners Germany, and European giants Sweden, England, France and Spain.
Former World Champions, Japan and Norway are in pot 2 alongside Canada, the Netherlands, Brazil, Italy, China PR and the Korea Republic.
In Pot three there is Denmark, Switzerland, Republic of Ireland, Colombia, Argentina, Vietnam, Costa Rica, and Jamaica.
The Copper Queens mint bronze at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in July after beating Nigeria in a tightly contested third and fourth play off to seal their World Cup qualification.
The Bruce Mwape coached outfit started preparations with winning the COSAFA Women’s Championship but could not however test themselves against the Netherlands after the match was canceled due to VISA hitches.
