The Zambia Women’s National Team have been put on bye and will only enter the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Morocco 2026 qualifiers in the second round.

The Copper Queens will face the winner of the first round qualifier between Eswatini and Namibia.

According to the draws conducted in Cairo Thursday afternoon, the Copper Queens were among the six top ranked sides alongside South Africa, Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria, and Cote d’Ivoire, granted exemption from the first round of qualifiers.

The second round matches are scheduled to take place on 20 October 2025, with the Copper Queens hosting either Eswatini or Namibia in the return leg set for a week later.

11 winners from the second round will join hosts Morocco at the WAFCON 2026 which also serves as a qualifier for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup to be held in Brazil from 24 June to 25 July 2027.

CAF allocates four direct World Cup slots to the WAFCON semi-finalists, with an additional two teams advancing to intercontinental playoffs.
