The Zambia Women’s National team has left for South Africa ahead of the kick off of the 2022 COSAFA Women’s Championship on Wednesday.
The Copper Queens jetted off to Nelson Mandela Bay from Kenneth Kaunda international Airport at 13:00hrs aboard a South African Airways flight.
Bruce Mwape has maintained the majority of the players who were influential for his side at the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations where they came out third beating Nigeria in the third and fourth play off.
The team is led by China based star Barbra Banda who returns after missing the AFCON last month.
Nigeria based Natasha Witika, Turkey based Misozi Zulu, China based Margaret Belemu and National Assembly goalkeeper Agness Fabiola Banda are all part of the squad.
The 10th edition of the regional showpiece will be hosted in South Africa from August 31-September 11.
The Queens first match in Group B will be against Namibia on September 1st at 15h30 at the Nelson Mandela Bay stadium, with their second match coming up against Lesotho three days later while their last group match against Eswatini is set for 6 September.
The tournament has three groups and only the top team in each group and the best-placed runner-up among the three pools will qualify to the semifinals.
