The Zambian Women’s National Team have dropped a place on the latest World FIFA Coca-Cola Rankings.
According to the newly published rankings, The Copper Queens have dropped to 70th from 69th place which they occupied the last time the rankings were published back in August.
Israel has leapfrogged Zambia into 69th place after accumulating 14.59 points in the period being considered.
All the top eight African countries have dropped places on the latest rankings with only Mali, Namibia and Congo DR moving up among the top 20 highest ranked African teams.
Zambia has however moved one place up in Africa, The 2022 WAFCON bronze medalists are now ranked 6th on the continent from 7th leapfrogging Côte d’Ivoire.
Nigeria, and South Africa remain first, and second in Africa with Morocco and Ghana moving up to 3rd and fourth while Cameroon drop to 5th place.
Zambia saw off Angola in the 2023 WAFCON qualifiers with an impressive 12-0 aggregate win to seal their place at the continental showpiece set for Morocco next year.
The next FIFA/Coca-Cola Women’s World Ranking will be published in March 2024
