The Zambian national women’s football team, the Copper Queens, held their first full training session at Lanoria Club in Mohammédia, Morocco, on Tuesday evening.
With just 10 days to go before the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2024 kicks off, the team is focused and determined.
High Energy and Positive Vibes
The evening training session was characterized by high energy, good vibes, and focused work. Coach Nora Häuptle led the session, which included tactical and physical routines aimed at sharpening the team’s shape and cohesiveness.
The players responded positively to the drills, and there were smiles all around.
Boost from Orlando Pride Duo
The arrival of Orlando Pride duo Grace Chanda and Prisca Chilufya added to the positive atmosphere.
Their presence brings depth and attacking flair to the squad, and their arrival completes the full complement of foreign-based players.
Coach Nora Häuptle will be banking on her foreign based contingent to carry the team to over the hurdle.
Group Stage Matches
Zambia is in Group A alongside Morocco, Senegal, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Copper Queens will face Morocco on July 5 at the newly built Olympic stadium in Rabat, followed by matches against Senegal on July 9 and DR Congo on July 12, both at El Bachir Stadium in Mohammédia.
The Road to Success
With their first full training session complete, the Copper Queens are one step closer to achieving their goals at WAFCON 2024.
The 2022 WAFCON bronze medalists will be looking to go a step further and fight for glory but it won’t be easy.
