The Zambia Women’s national team will face Botswana in two International friendly matches, The ZamFoot Crew can exclusively reveal.
The Copper Queens will be using the two matches as part of their preparations for the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations to be hosted by Morocco in July.
The Queens will host the Mares of Botswana on Friday, April 29th and Monday, May 2nd in Lusaka.
The players will enter camp on Sunday in preparation for the two games.
The proposed venue is Nkoloma Stadium but could change depending on availability.
Coach Bruce Mwape’s lasses started their preparations with an All Stars vs the Rest match last weekend which ended in a goalless draw.
Zambia and Botswana (who will be making their debut) are among the 12 countries that qualified for the biggest African women’s showpiece which is the 12th Edition.
The tournament will feature 12 teams for the first time (compared to 8 teams in previous tournaments) competing at the tournament which was supposed to be played last year but postponed to 2-23 July 2023 owing to the outbreak of Covid-19.
The 2022 Morocco Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) will take place between 2nd and 23rd July, 2022.
The top 4 teams will qualify to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup to be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
