Copper Princesses to travel to Tanzania in next 48 hours

The Women’s U17 National Team are set to travel to Tanzania in the next 48 hours ahead of the 2024 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup second round, second leg qualifier.

The Copper Princesses beat Tanzania  5-0 at Lusaka’s Nkoloma Stadium in the first leg on Saturday to kick off their campaign on a bright note.

A brace from skipper Zangose Blessings Zulu and a goal from Saliya Mwanza gave the home side a comfortable lead in the first half.

Second half goals from striker Bwalya Chileshe and substitute Ruth Muwowo put the result beyond the East Africans.

The Selengeti girls will host Zambia in the return leg in Dar es Salaam over the weekend to decide who progresses to the third round.

The overall winner over two legs will face Uganda or Cameroon in the third round.

The 2024 World Cup will be hosted by the Dominican Republic from October 16 to November 3.

Zambia featured at the 2014 World Cup in Costa Rica. Goalkeeper Hazel Nali, Barbra Banda and Grace Chanda featured at that tournament.

Three African teams qualify for the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup to be held in the Dominican Republic after round four of the qualifiers.
