Lydia Shamalima gave the Copper Princesses a dream start with a fourth minute goal.

Thirteen minutes later Ruth Nyamboki equalised for Congo to leave the home fans at Nkoloma Stadium speechless.

Charles Halubono’s side continued to push for a goal and we reward by a Mary Mbewe goal on the hour mark.

The lead just lasted seven minutes as Gloria Nosa found an equaliser to earn the girls from Kinshasa a draw.

DR Congo host Zambia in a return leg next week and will be buoyed by the two away goals advantage.

FULL-TIME: Zambia 2-2 DR Congo (Lydia Shamalima 4’, Mary Mbewe 60’ | Ruth Nyamboki 17’, Gloria Nosa 67’)
