The Zambia U-17 Women’s national team thrashed Comoros 10-0 to book a place in the semifinals of the ongoing COSAFA U17 Women’s Championship in Malawi.
Skipper Lubasi Pumulo and midfielder Harriet Matipa scored a hat-trick each to guide the Copper Princesses to knock out stages.
Coach Naomi Phiri made one change to the team that started against Botswana, Namute Chileshe Bwalya made way for Harriet Matipa.
The defending Champions started strong and took the lead just 3 minutes into the match, Lubasi Pumulo finishing off a beautiful lay off from Blessings Zangose Zulu with a fine finish inside the box.
The second goal however came 14 minutes later, Zangose Zulu this time turning finisher with a close range tap in off a Mercy Chipasula assist.
Esther Musialela made it 3-0 with a beautiful header off another brilliant Chipasula cross.
Green Buffaloes new acquisition, Jessy Zulu made it 4-0 with a powerful shot as the Copper Princesses went to the break with a comfortable lead.
In the second half they picked up from where they left off.
Suwilanji Lukundo thought she had gotten her first goal of the tournament six minutes into the second stanza but it was ruled out for a foul.
Four minutes later Harriet Matipa produced a powerful long range drive that went straight in and made it 5-0.
A minute after the hour match Lubasi Pumulo got her brace as she converted from the penalty spot after Mercy Chipasula was brought down inside the box.
Four minutes later Pumulo again converted from 12 yards after Zambia were awarded another penalty to complete her hat-trick.
Substitute Tricia Mabamba got in on the action in the 78th minute with an easy tap in after some brilliant work from another Substitute Bwalya Namute Chileshe.
Matipa then took over with two beautiful free kicks to make it 10-0 and complete her hat-trick.
Skipper Lubasi Pumulo was named as the player of the match.
The Copper Princesses will play the runners up in group B for a place in the final as they aim to defend their title.
