Zambia’s Copper Princesses have returned to training following their 3-2 defeat to Venezuela as they prepare for Saturday’s decisive Group D encounter against France at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.
Coach Carol Kanyemba and her technical bench have turned their attention to the final group fixture, with Zambia needing a positive result to keep their hopes of reaching the knockout stage alive.
The Copper Princesses suffered a narrow loss to Venezuela in their second match, leaving them with work to do ahead of their meeting with France as they seek to secure a place in the round of 16.
Zambia could still qualify as one of the four best third-placed teams across the six groups, depending on the outcome of Saturday’s encounter and how other results shape the standings.
Under the tournament format, the top two teams in each group advance automatically to the round of 16, while four additional places are awarded to the best third-placed sides.
The fixture against France therefore presents a crucial opportunity for Kanyemba’s side to strengthen their chances of progressing beyond the group stage and extend their campaign in Morocco.
With their final group match approaching, the Copper Princesses will be looking to put the Venezuela defeat behind them and deliver a strong performance against the French side on Saturday.
