Copper Princesses ready for Uganda test

Zambia Women’s U17 coach Carol Kanyemba says her team is ready for the challenge that awaits the Copper Princesses when they clash against Uganda in the 2024 U-17 FIFA Women’s World Cup third round uni hi, first leg qualifier on Sunday.

The match will be played at the 50,009-capacity Heroes stadium and will kick-off at 12h30 with tickets available from K10 in All Shoprite stores via CompuTicket.

“My team is ready for the challenge and we know that it’s not going to be an easy game. We have seen Uganda and where they are coming from, we respect them but we have prepared enough to face them tomorrow (on Sunday),” Kanyemba said.

“We want to thank the Association (FAZ) for giving our girls a chance to play in the historic pitch and we have told the girls to make it memorable by putting up a very good performance and give them (fans) a positive result.”

Kanyemba promised fans to look out for ‘very good football’ that they are going to witness on Sunday.

“It’s always good to bury the qualifier at home, we have encouraged the girls to work hard and get as many goals as possible on Sunday so that we reduce the pressure of the away game.”

Influential captain Blessings Zangose Zulu said her teammates are ready to give their best in front of supporters.

“The morale is very high in camp; everyone is working very hard in training and we are very much ready for the game. We will be happy to qualify for the World Cup especially that this is our last year as U17 and we will be graduating to U20 very soon,” Zulu said.
