COLUMN: YOU CAST THE FIRST STONE AT MWAMELO, BUT SYMPATHIZES WITH SIASIA

Sibeleki on Monday:

Events of the past weekend have seen the microblogging space, Twitter and Facebook inundated with messages for sympathy to Nigeria’s football legend Samson Siasia on his life ban in all football related activities by the adjudicatory chamber of the FIFA Ethics Committee.

Siasia, an erstwhile Nigeria Football Association official was found guilty of receiving bribes from match fixing King Wilson Raj Perumal to manipulate matches.

The advent of this news has been received with mixed feelings; with the majority appearing to hit at FIFA.
Members of the fourth-estate have went as far as churning out PR tweets to crowdsource sympathy for Siasia.

AT THE SNAP OF A FINGER MWAMELO WAS CRUCIFIED

It was not so long ago when the adjudicatory chamber of the FIFA Ethics committee meted out an embargo at former Football Association of Zambia Vice-president Boniface Mwamelo over his links to Perumal to manipulate matches.

At the snap of the finger, following the advent of Mwamelo’s FIFA life embargo – all were rumbling to cast the first stone.

In parliament, it was all knives out for our lawmakers to crucify Mwamelo, as former Youth and Sports Minister Moses Mawere laid out bare State house’ decision in collaboration with the local football mother body to engage investigate wings to probe this alleged match fixing scandal further.

Palpably, this world we are living dear brethren, it is an animal farm; some animals are sacrosanct where as others are not.

As someone [Identity withheld] alluded, Samson Siasia is too smart to commit to any document by match fixers. Question I asked myself: what about Bonficace Mwamelo?

What beats my mind is: Why are we now finding faults in the FIFA Ethics Committee when the same did not happen when Mwamelo was banned?

Don’t get me wrong. I am not in any way exonerating the former FAZ Veep. Not at all. I just think that both news should have been received with the same feeling. After all, both are linked to the same Wilson Raj Perumal.

BWEZANI MBEWE SUPERSPORT DEBUT

Samson Siasia’s FIFA embargo hit our newsfeeds at the time when my town mate, football Analyst Bwezani Mbewe was making his first appearance on Supersport, TV sponsors of the Zambia Super Division.

Bwezani, as he is famously known in football circles, joined Former Zambia International Linos Chalwe as Analysts, with Gasper Ngulube as the anchor for the Samuel Zoom Ndlovu Charity Shield match, that plays the chief role of the season curtain raiser in Zambia.

Sensational Zanaco quelled Zesco’s stranglehold, beating the league champions, courtesy of a lone goal by defender Ziyo Tembo who was making a return to the Bankers from Saudi Arabia.

Congratulations to Zanaco. And Congratulations to you Bwezani Mbewe. Livingstone is proud of you. You are a trailblazer and have laid down the marker.

You have unequivocally put this small football city on the map, just like when I became the first Journalist from Livingstone to be recognized by FIFA.
THAT’S ALL!!!!!

From me James Sibeleki, here in the beautiful city of Livingstone, which houses one of the seven wonders of the earth: the MIGHTY VICTORIA FALLS.

Praises to the man upstairs, Adios!!!!!!
