“You are now in the spotlight and come 2019 FAZ MTN Super league, you will be the team to beat.
“As the command, as well as other sponsors we expect nothing less than another spot in Continental platform.
“With the kind of experience you have, as sponsors we know that you are capable of winning the league.”
Above, are quotes of Zambia National Service Deputy Commandant Major General Alick Kamizhi; said during the 2018 Green Eagles Awards Gala in Choma.
Major General Kamzhi was the Guest of honour at the Awards gala as he unequivocally stated that winning the league for the Choma Super Division side is not beyond their punching weight.
One would have thought that the Major General was just wallowing in his miasma. The kind of delusion of grandeur that men in uniforms usually carry.
We have seen in the past Commandants of other Army sides, setting misplaced thresholds for their teams to clinch the league title. But for Major Kamizhi, his hopes of Green Eagles winning their first ever MTN Super Division title – in all their annals – seem to be not misplaced.
True to their mantra: ‘Tonka Twende’ the Kawale boys are trudging to their first ever triumph in Zambia’s flagship tier.
Yesterday’s results between Copperbelt sides Buildcon and Nkana meant that Eagles shall be insurmountable in Stream B, consequently qualifying for the final of the Transitional league and cemented a slot in the subsequent CAF Champions league for the first time in all their annals.
Awaiting the winner of Stream A, Green Eagles, the Southern province trailblazers – shall be buoyant to firmly put their name in the history books of Zambian football.
Otherwise, that’s all from me here in Livingstone, the Tourist Capital City of Zambia; the City that houses one of the seven wonders of the Earth: The Might Victoria Falls where Zambia and Zimbabwe are joined at the hip.
I can only wish Green Eagles the very best as they negotiate for their first ever FAZ Super Division title.
To you our readers, as always wishing you our Lord’s blessings and a fruitful week ahead. Adiós!
