Speaking ahead of the encounter, Mumamba emphasized the importance of fan support, especially against a side known for its large following.
“To the fans, they should come in numbers. Nkana has got a bigger following; they will fill up this stadium. We can only urge our supporters to come and back us and make sure that they remain disciplined as they have always been.
ZANACO fans are known to be disciplined and not indulge in things that can cost the team. We are happy with the support they have given us since the season started — even when we go through a bad patch, they are always there.”
Big Test for the Bankers
The fixture promises to be a fierce contest between two sides with a long-standing rivalry. ZANACO will be looking to build on their earlier 1-0 victory over Nkana, while the visitors will be eager to respond and secure a much-needed win.
Mumamba described the match as another stern examination for his squad.
“Another big test for our team. From the time we came back from the Nkwazi game, we started preparing for this big game against Nkana. We expect a very tough game.
Nkana has gone two games in a row without losing, and that makes it even tougher for us. But we have the team that can deliver the desired results that will push us up the ladder.”
Squad Boost
The Bankers have received a timely boost with the return of Araina Lambert, who had picked up a knock in the previous match against Nkwazi.
“The morale in the team is very high. Everyone is in high spirits, and we are happy that Lambert is back and ready for selection. He was exceptional in the Nkwazi game, and his return is another morale boost for us.”
League Context
ZANACO head into the match sitting fourth on the table with 34 points, while Nkana occupy 12th position with 25 points. With the league standings tightening, every point remains vital in shaping the final positions.
Historically, Nkana last defeated ZANACO in 2023 and have lost two of the last three meetings between the sides, giving the Bankers a slight psychological edge heading into Saturday’s encounter.
With home advantage and strong backing expected at Sunset Stadium, all is set for a thrilling afternoon of top-flight football.
