Zambia international midfielder Clatous Chama says there is need for the players to have a change of mindset and attach seriousness as the Chipolopolo wait for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations draws under new coach Aljosa Asanovic.
“We really need to change our approach and attitude towards our target since we didn’t achieve our last target in the last five years,” Chama has been quoted by the Times of Zambia
“We really need seriousness and the right attitude…. Our input and seriousness is what needs to change or else we will miss out again which is quiet unfair for the football fans and country at large.
“I am very sure every Zambian player now should be ready in all aspects to make amends even as we start the 2023 qualifiers.
On the appointment of former Croatia assistant coach Chama has encouraged his teammates to support the new gaffer.
“He (Asanovic) is in charge now and we have to support him and respect him. We have one goal and we are one team. I wish I him nothing but the best of luck,” Chama said.
Having missed three consecutive AFCON finals, the 2012 champions will be eager to find out the opponents for the qualifiers for a place at the 2023 tournament to be held in Ivory Coast.
