Chiyangi talks title hunt as Eagles eye Kabwe Warriors scalp

Green Eagles head coach Aggrey Chiyengi is upbeat ahead of the 2020/2021 Super League season which kicked off on Friday with Prison Leopards beating Kitwe United 3-0.

Chiyangi says he is expecting a tough season ahead as teams have prepared adequately for their games. He went on to declare his team ready for the task ahead.

“It’s going to be interesting am sure it’s going to come with a lot of sparks because all the teams are hungry and looking forward to playing their league games I think looking at the time we have been away from playing competitive football it has to give all the teams enough hunger to like to come back to the pitch,” he said.

“For now I think our team is ready we have enough power to start the league, and the goodness is that all the players that we have everyone are fit and everyone is ready to play the first game. The only thing that we have to do is look forward to the first game that we are going to play in Kabwe against Kabwe Warriors we know that it’s not going to be an easy game it’s going to be very tough but I think competition has to be that way, the only this is that we plan well and good and play well in Kabwe,” he added.

Chiyangi had led the Kawale Boys to Continental football in the last three years and has now set his sights on winning the league.

“Even This season we are trying to push our benchmark very Higher than we did last time even though the league the previous season did not end the way it was supposed to end. but otherwise, we are still keeping our spirits very high and we are still focusing on winning the league because looking at the way the team has performed in the last three seasons I think it gives us enough confidence to say we can still challenge for the league and that’s what we are going to do,” he said.

It will be interesting to see how Green Eagles will start their life without arguably their best player in the last three seasons Spencer Sautu who recently moved to Ndeke based outfit Power Dynamos.

Tonka Tweende’s title hunt starts this afternoon with a tricky trip away to Kabwe to face the magnificent people’s team, Kabwe Warriors.
