The Zambia national team will today shift camp to Maputo ahead of Sunday’s Algeria 2023 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier.
Aljosa Asanovic’s fresh from winning the COSAFA Cup have now shifted their focus to the CHAN qualifiers.
The Chipolopolo Boys had an intense training session at the Escombe Sports Club in Durban yesterday as part of their preparations for Sunday’s clash.
Asanovic’s men are looking to start on a good note and keep their winning momentum going.
Albert Kangwanda’s spectacular extra time goal was enough to secure Zambia a record equalling sixth COSAFA Cup title on Sunday as the Copper Bullets edged Namibia 1-0 in the final.
Zambia’s best outing at the CHAN tournament came in 2009, the inaugural showpiece in Ivory Coast when the team came out third with Given Singuluma winning the golden boot.
Zambia will be away to Mozambique on Sunday before hosting the mambas on July 30 in the reverse fixture.
Winner over two legs will face Malawi in the final qualifying round.
The 7the edition of the African Nations Championship will be held in Algeria between 8th and 31st January 2023.
