Chipolopolo queens in final AWC match

ZAMBIA will this afternoon be seeking to wrap up a disappointing TN Mobile 2014 Africa Women Championship (AWC) maiden appearance on a high note when they take on Les Elephants of Ivory Coast in their final Group A match at the Independence Stadium in Windhoek.

Having lost their last two games to the hosts Namibia via a 2-0 score and the 6-0 bashing to six-time champions and tournament favorites Nigeria to bow out of the competition, the Shepolopolo will be aiming for a face saver result.

The Shepolopolo must put up brave faces to down an impressive Les Elephants side that is still in contention of a semi-final spot together with Namibia, whom they silenced 3-1 on Tuesday.

Zambia have so far conceded eight goals and scored none in the last two games and Coach Charles Bwale will be looking for a better show from the lasses.

However, things have not also not been rosy in the locker room as the national team players are reported to have protested over non payment of allowances.

  1. I sometimes wounder, is there anyone interested in this girls football? FAZ, use this money to improve rural talent identification programs. Remember were we got our greatest players (Chitalu) of all times. Use the money to also promote youth football for boys. Forget about this women football, we are just making numbers

  2. @ Roots now that is just about the most sexist comment ever said on this site. I truely hope you are not one of those brothers that walk around with the notion that everything female is inferior to everything male. The lasses have had a bad run just like the men have had in the past, remember the 5 – 0 bashing we got at Afcon! I wonder if at that point you said we should rather invest in rural identification programes instead of investing in the development of mens soccer. Everybody deserves a chance and the fact that womens soccer has taken more time than mens soccer to gain ground does not mean we should just do away with it all together. What is it you tell your daughter my man, do you tell her to just forget because no one is as interested in womens sport than they are in mens sport? do you berate her spirit by telling her she is inferior??

  3. I agree. women hav no place in soccer. the under 17 Who went to the world cup, were are they now? what future hav they drawn from the tournament? womens footbal has got no future and is a waste of resourses

  4. Are we getting Keshi as our coach now or what? Keshi will take us to the world cup as he did with Togo and Nigeria, not this Janza crap.

  5. you are right @tc. we need keshi now who took even togo to the world cup. zambia is a powerhouse in footbal we need that maiden world cup apearance. but with kalu and co we are not going anywhere as long as they hire incompetent managers

  6. Keshi, was fired by Togo!!

    Keshi was fires by Mali!!

And Stephen keshi has been fired by Nigeria!!!

He was able to qualify Togo to the WC but was fired!

Had Mali’s golden generational players but cldnt qualify them to the WC and was dismissed!!

Helped naija won the afcon and qualify them to the WC but has made their afcon campaign more difficult!

Keshi,is an ON AND OFF COACH who always starts good but ends up badly!!

Hire him and yall ll regret this move!!

  7. Guys Janza is doing fine he has been trying different combinations and with time will have a strong starting 11. Keshi has no idea about our game he wont do much. Let Janza do his work.

  8. Keshi, hahahaha,He will fight and drop all your mayuka,Sunzu and Kalaba….He was fired at togo because of his fight with Adebayor

  9. Janza is useless and won’t take us anywhere. Just one win against a weak team you even start praising the man? Iwe John! Why are you promoting failure???
