Chipolopolo Lusaka bound after end of Bamako engagement

Local Bullets are expected to return home tomorrow following the end of their Mali engagement during the September FIFA window.

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has confirmed the players departure from Bamako after their second friendly match against Mali was cancelled a few minutes in due to bad weather.

The foreign based contingent has also left for their respective bases ahead of the resumption of football leagues around the world this coming weekend.

“The Zambia Senior Men’s National Team has left Bamako after having played one international friendly match against Mali with the second game being called off due to bad weather.

European based players have flown back to their bases with the local contingent and South Africa based players leaving on the same flight.”

Mali won Friday’s match 1-0 at the Stade du 25 Mars thanks to an El Bilal Touré strike.

The second match was called off after 16 minutes due to a heavy downpour.

The Copper Bullets and the Eagles were using the FIFA window matches as part of preparation for next March’s Ivory Coast 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
