Zambia national football team coach George Lwandamina has invited 24 players from the domestic league for a residential training camp to kick start preparations for the 2018 Fifa World Cup second round, first leg qualification match scheduled for November 11.
Lwandamina has maintained the same squad that faced Mozambique over two legs in African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers with the exception of Power Dynamos midfielder Kennedy Mudenda whose omission sees Zesco United midfielder Clatous Chama being invited.
Chama is one of the highest scoring midfielders in the league with seven goals so far and his inclusion brings the number of Zesco United players in the Chipolopolo team to five.
The national team camp begins today (Sunday) with the foreign based players yet to be named expected to join the team next week.
Full squad
Goalkeepers: Jacob Banda (Zesco United), Toaster Nsabata (Zanaco), Danny Munyao (Red Arrows)
Defenders: Christopher Munthali (Power Dynamos), Boyd Mkandawire (Napsa Stars), Buchizya Mfune (Green Buffaloes), Dauti Musekwa (Zesco United), Solomon Sakala (Kabwe Warriors), Kapota Kayawe (Nkana), Donashano Malama (Nkana), Benedict Chepeshi (Red Arrows)

Chipeshi please don’t use him in defence he is not yet mature. May be in cosafa games.
Ts only in zambia whr a player is called to th national team buh fail to make th cut @ U23 level.
Luchanga, zulu n sautu hv not been summoned by simukonda for th U23 training camp.
But why calling them straight to the national team when they can’t even be called to the under 23 national team.
Are you telling me that Luchanga and Sautu do not deserve to be called to the national team? Come on Simukonda aitaya chabe to leave out these players most especially Luchanga and Sautu! Let me remind you that it was Luchanga and Sautu who changed the game at Levy when we humbled Mocambique 3-0. I dont have to remind you that we have been missing the depth Chansa offered in 2012, but we have a player like Isaac Chansa in the name of Spensor Sautu. Simukonda failed to play his cards well when selecting the players Sate Sate and Luchanga can combine very well together Evans Kangwa and Sautu. Lubambo can also add his stretching of defenders. Simukonda is being mislead by people who can only watch the game without having deep analysis on certain players like Luchanga, Sautu, Lubambo, Kangwa, and not forgetting Sate Sate the goal poacher. I thank you
Why is Fackson Kapumbu ignored by the national team selectors? Is his crime missing a penalty when Zambia played Ivory Coast? Please anybody with tactical acumen to advise!!!!
OK! NOW WE WIL SEE WHICH PROFESSIONALS WIL BE CALLED. CAREFUL SUDAN IS NOT KENYA WHERE U CAN USE YO EXPERIMENT. REMEMBER WHAT THE SUDANESE DID LAST WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS. THIS TIME THEY CAN FINISH DE JOB IN KHATOURM & HOLD US HERE 4 THEM TO GO THROUGH TO DE NEXT ROUND.
No experimentation against a dangerous opponent like Sudan. Even the best clubs in africa tp mazembe loses in Sudan so be careful.
Well said Mr john, we want to qualify to de world cup this time.
I thot those two rookies (chepeshi & boyd) were jst 4 unrecognized tourneys like CHAN. I hp its a typing error tht thr names r listed.#dead
BaGeorge you need to pick players who can deliver otherwise Sudan are no pushovers and will embarass chipolopolo in their own backyard.
Cotch awe mwe chipeshi again
Ba chicken ba la lyamo mutubaiche utu
As long as poor team selection continues, Zambia will not go anywhere. I had so much faith muli Ba Lwandamina. Awe kwena malabishi yeka yeka fye.

Guys lets stop being abused by kalusha and co. Zambia is not a small footballing nation. Week in week out our players are doing big things abroad. Go now on Fifa.com you will see chisamba lungu is front page news after helping ural beat spartak moscow. Go on goal.com you will see Kalaba is front page news. We have big players and world renowned players. Let Kalusha and co stop corruption in team selection we are tired
Nigeria and Mali are through to the semi-final of the ongoing Fifa U-17 world cup. And we may have an all African final. Nigeria will play the winner between Mexico and Ecuador while Mali play against the winner between Belgium and Costa Rica.
Nigeqia reached the semi-final stage after defeating the boys from Brazil(3 time Fifa U-17 champion) 3-0, remember we also defeated Australia 6-0 at the quarter-final stage.
Go go go Golden eaglets and defend the title we won 2 years ago in UAE. We are on track to win the world cup for the fifth.
WIN IT FOR NIGERIA WIN IT FOR MOTHER AFRICA
A bulk of these players wont make the team hence I don’t understand why they have been called to camp? Unless he is using this opportunity to prepare for CHAN
@Badosqi Congrats to Mali & Nigeria U17s for raising the African flag high.
John John….. I remember you called us shitty, over-rated and over-hyped during the Caf U-17 championship. You hyped the south africa boys as the next big thing in football(remember they defeated the golden eaglet)….
Now where are the south africa boys? They are out as usual without winning a game. The overhyped west africans are progressing marketing their players well. Osimhen is the leading goalscorer with 8 goals from just 5 games. Top clubs are ready to sign this boy. Now that is how will market future stars here.
Some of the boys from the 2013 set are already in top clubs. Kelechi Iheanacho (Man city)…. playing first team futbal with for man city, Taiwo Awoniyi (Liverpool) remember his 2 goals against zambia during AAG qualifier, Yahaya (Tottenham), Chidera Ezeh (Porto), Isaac Success (Granada), Ndidi (Genk), Moses Simon(Gent).
Mali too will ship good and young footballers out after this tournament. Mali is the biggest threat to top teams in Africa football. The are churning out young footballers with bright future. Remember the U-20 world cup and now U-17 world.
Dear Badosqi, well done and congrats to Nigeria. But my question is, why is it that when these players graduate to the senior team, why don’t the senior team go far at world cup, even to win it? They do well at under age tournaments, but not at senior tournaments since it’s the same players who just graduate to senior teams. I remember the era of Amokachi, JJ Okocha, Nwanku won the Olympic, but have failed to go far at world cup tournaments? This is not only Nigeria but for many other African countries, like Ghana who do well at under age tournaments. Your opinion please!
Age cheating at the fifa U-17 world cup has been reduced to the barest minimum with the help of MRI test.
Three top teams at the U-17 category have found it hard to make any meaningful impact since the introduction of MRI test in 2009. The 3 teams are Argentina, Brazil(3 time world champion) and Ghana(2 time world champion). A former champion Ghana have not qualified for the tournament since the introduction of the MRI test(2009)
Kikikikikikiki please leave my Kwame Nkhruma alone Lol
Go chipolopolo GO!
TOO MUCH AGE CHEATING IN WEST AFRICA.
Many factors contribute to this. I will not want to add overage to it, it is the easiest excuse people give. Since Fifa confirmed them to be U-17, them who am I to dispute that?
Most young prospects from Africa end up in mediocre teams after this type of tournament which definitely affect their development. Most of them are from poor/average family, the family look up to them for way out. The sign a contract with any available foreign team without considering the future just becos they wish to meet the family needs. Some of these boys are not dat educated so they make bad choices and they agents that should help they with decision making are only after their pockets. They care less about the player future. Signing for a mediocre will not doubt affect a player’s development.
Most of the players from their european counterparts are already with certain clubs. These clubs take care of these players after the tournament. 9 of the croatia starting eleven in this tournament are playing in dinamo zagreb in croatia. They play together and their FA look after their development. Same with other teams from europe.
But here in Africa, our leagues are not there. Our FA can’t monitor proper development of these players, since the players are out there playing for division 2,division 3 of some eastern european clubsides. How many clubs in africa have youth teams U-19, U-21, youth teams like Enyimba U-21, Zanaco-21, Nkana-21….
Many of them don’t make it to the senior team and the young future big stars fade away.
You can’t compare the development of a player in a top club to that of a player in a mediocre team. Neymar played in 2009 U-17, De gea was spain goalkeeper, Bojan krkic Toni Kroos, Eden Hazard, Victor Moses(he represented England U-17) check the club these players played for after the tournament and see the impact it added to the progress. Compare this to their counterparts in useless clubs and see the difference….
So 6-8 years after the youth tournament most of them fail to make meaningful improvement. They get to the senior team and they find it hard to compete with other top countries. And the cycle continues.
Way out, protect the young talents from destiny changing agents, get them good deals with clubs with good youth system, monitor them, motivate them, encourage them and don’t over rush them to senior team. It will only kill the player morale and confidence if he fails to deliver when given the chance bcos the fans are there to tear him apart with insults.
OK, I can agree with you. You’ve raised substantial points.
How is the condition of influential U23 international Kelvin Mubanga please anyone with information should do so as this forum is useful for us away from home.
@abram you’re just jealous of west african success.
