Birthday boy Kennedy Mweene is set to extend his stay at South African side Mamelodi Sundowns.
The 33 year old goalkeeper joined the Pretoria based from Free State Stars.
Though he has continued to be Zambia’s first choice, the former Kitwe United and Lusaka Celtic goalkeeper has been playing second fiddle to Ugandan Denis Onyango.
Mweene won his international debut against Malawi 12 years old.
He has gone to earn over 75 caps and helped Zambia to the 2012 African Cup of Nations title.
In Zambia he is considered as one of the true greats and has earned comparisons with the legendary duo James Phiri and Efford Chabala
All the Mweene.
But Nsabata is the new national team keeper. Happy birthday though.
I guess at 33 I wouldn’t blame him for sticking around at Sundowns. I wish he could have moved to somewhere where he could get more game time.
On efford spot on zamfoot as for james I personally disagree even Davis was far much better than the later
Zamfoot, you cannot compare or match mweene,to James phiri, chabala and even Davis phiri. These were too superior to mweene.
Mweene is best, during this generation of goal keepers in Zambia .Heis not as swift, courageous, and determined as these three.
comparing mweene to Davis Phiri, James Phiri and Efford Chabala is a joke. consult before posting some articles.
So this guy is content with drinking water on the bench.
12 years? What do you mean?
Mweene teya bola you have been off pitch still no plans keeper
I disagree that Davis can be better than Mweene 4 James phiri and Effort chabala l didn’t know them
