The Chipolopolo Boys have arrived in Tunisia ahead of Tuesday’s final Group B Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifier.
The team left for North Africa immediately after Saturday’s win over Mauritania on commercial flight.
They arrived in Dubai in the early hours of Sunday before connecting to Tunis.
While this match was considered as a dead rubber a month ago, the dimensions have changed as the Chipolopolo Boys still have a slim chance of securing a playoff place.
Even though it’s far fetched as Zambia need to beat Tunisia 3-nil and hope for Mauritania to cause an upset against Equatorial Guinea, Zambian fans are hoping for another successful North African job.

On the previous three tours of duty to North Africa, Zambia has only lost once with a draw and a win.
In 2017, Zambia beat then Africa’s no.1 ranked side Algeria but the desert foxes revenged last year with five nil thrashing of the Chipolopolo.

In 2009, Zambia held Egypt in Cairo in 1-all draw.
On Tuesday, Zambia coach Beston Chambeshi is expected to drift away from the traditional 4-4-2 to a 4-5-1 formation and hope to catch the 2004 African Champions on the break.
A point for Tunisia might not be enough if Equatorial Guinea win.

Like the late Dennis Liwewe would say ‘let’s wait and see’… summary… 80% chances to both Tunisia and E-Guinea and 20% chance to Zambia! If we use probabilities, the 20% chance for Zambia can shoot to 100% based on Two possible results! T 0:3 Z, M 2:1 EG. T vs Z being the hardest result to come but still very possible! The last result M vs EG is not as hard! Two results Ladies and gentlemen! Two results! it’s difficult but the boys must dream and never give up! Remember Zambia won the 2012 African Cup against all odds! Meeting the giants of African football, teams ranked 1st, 2nd and 3rd in Africa at that time but thumped them all! Ask Senegal, Ghana and Ivory Coast! If we don’t qualify we know why! We lost Two key matches and not because of our own faults alone! Against EG the Referee was clearly against us! Vs Tunisia our key players missed due to COVID-19. We have in Daka, Fashion, Lubambo, Kangwas, and team who are now accustomed to scoring more goals on foreign soils! At the moment Tunisia is tossing and shaking when they hear such Zambian names! No pressure on Zambia, we are 80% out but can easily grow from 20% to 100% causing more panic in the camp of the next round opponents! It’s always good to dare to dream big! Someone tell Coach Chambeshi and entire Squad to dream big! Saying it can’t happen is speculation and One sided! Saying any result is possible is very true and non speculative. Blessed land, regardless of the outcome…
Good luck to the boys. How I wish we had a serious coach. We wouldn’t be in this calculous position
