FC Leopards head coach Justin Chinama says his side is targeting finishing in the top eight despite being winless as at week eight.
Chinama who was speaking after his team’s 3-1 loss to Red Arrows over the weekend categorically stated that his team will not be relegated come May next year.
The Kabwe based outfit is currently 16th on the MTN Super League table with 5 points from eight games.
“Definitely, and 100% right. We are still game. We hope to finish in the top eight bracket. That I can assure you. Come and see me after the season,” he said.
Chinama feels his side looked better than the Airmen on the day and missed way too many chances.
Chinama also lamented his team’s ‘schoolboy’ mistakes that led to them conceding three goals at Nkoloma Stadium.
“We looked better than them, only that we missed a lot of our scoring chances. Otherwise, in the second half, we played better than the first half,” he said.
“Let them remain focused. They should not lose their focus, their vision. We continue working on the mistakes that we are making. But today, I think all the three goals were out of schoolboy mistakes. We should not have allowed those three goals. But we made a lot of schoolboy mistakes. That’s how we allowed those goals. But we talked to them so that mentally they remain strong.”
Chinama believes his side is not far from starting to win games and that they will start rising on the MTN Super League log table.
“The battle is not for the heart-fainted or so. So they have to remain strong. We are in the Premier Division. They have to adapt and adjust to Premier Division Football. But we are not very far from starting to win games . I’m sure very soon we’ll record a win and we should be rising on the table,” he said.
Goals from Alassane Diarra, Albert Kangwanda and Angel Lubamba gave Arrows a comfortable 3-1 win. Gibson Banda scored the consolation goal for the Correct Boys.
