Nicholas Chibwe announced himself on the National League stage with an impressive first start for Mathkat United, producing a composed display against Lumwana Radiants at Kaole Stadium.
The young left-back was handed his first-ever National League start and quickly made an impression, showcasing his ability to contribute at both ends of the pitch.
Chibwe’s deliveries from set-pieces proved particularly effective, with the left-back producing two quality corner-kick deliveries that helped Mathkat United mount their fightback after going into half-time a goal behind.
His performance was rewarded with the Fans’ Man of the Match award.
Beyond his set-piece quality, Chibwe’s composure in possession, willingness to get forward and confidence on his left foot offered plenty of encouragement on an important milestone in his young career.
For a player only beginning his National League journey, it was a performance that suggested there could be more to come.
With continued development and regular first-team football, Chibwe could emerge as one of Zambia’s promising young left-footed players — and one worth keeping an eye on.
