Midfielder Chanda Mukuka has announced his departure from ZESCO United, bringing an end to a five-and-a-half-year spell at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium during which he helped the Ndola giants win silverware and established himself as one of the club’s dependable midfielders.
In an emotional farewell statement, Mukuka thanked the club for the opportunity to represent ZESCO United since joining in January 2021, describing his time with the nine-time Zambian champions as an unforgettable chapter in his career.
“From my first day in January 2021 when I joined ZESCO United FC, I felt at home. Wearing the ZESCO United badge has been an honour, and I’m thankful for every moment I’ve represented this great club,” Mukuka said.
The midfielder reflected fondly on the success enjoyed during his stay, paying tribute to the club’s management, coaching staff, teammates and supporters for their unwavering support throughout his time in blue and white.
“I will forever cherish the trophies we won and the amazing memories I made during my stay at ZESCO United. I want to thank the management, coaches, teammates and last but not least, the amazing ZESCO United supporters. Thank you for believing in me, standing by me through tough times, and making my stay at the club unforgettable.”
Mukuka added that he leaves the club with gratitude, lifelong friendships and valuable lessons as he prepares for the next stage of his career.
“As I move on to a new chapter in my career, I leave with so much gratitude, pride, happy memories, lifelong friendships and lessons that will last forever. Words alone can’t fully express how grateful I am. Thank you, ZESCO United FC. I wish the club nothing but continued success.”
Mukuka’s next destination has yet to be officially confirmed, although he has been strongly linked with a move to ZANACO.
Should the transfer materialise, the midfielder would reunite with head coach Numba Mumamba, who has played a significant role in his development after coaching him at Zambia’s Under-17 and Under-20 national teams before working with him again at ZESCO United following his arrival in 2021.
