Chipolopolo midfielder Collins Sikombe was named man of the match in the Group D opener that saw Zambia beat Tanzania 2 – 0.
The Lusaka Dynamos attacker was instrumental in helping Zambia collect maximum points against their Northern neighbors. Sikombe scored from the penalty spot and provided the assist for Emmanuel Chabula’s wonderful strike for the second goal.
He was twice denied by the Taifa Stars goalkeeper Aishi Manila – first with an effort from inside the box in a congested area before he again saw his effort cleared by the foot of the goalie when he was played through by Paul Katema with only the keeper to beat.
Sikombe’s form in front of goal is expected to be key in Zambia’s quest for silverware at the CHAN tournament.
Good luck Zed – had Tanzania for breakfast…
