Chipolopolo stand-in coach Beston Chambeshi has named his final 20-member squad for the 2018 Cosafa Castle Cup tournament.
Chambeshi has handed Kitwe United’s Emmanuel Chabula a place in the final team that also has Nakambala Leopards defender Martin Sikaonga, 2017 under-20 AFCON winners Shemmy Mayembe and Ngosa Sunzu in a blend of youth and experience.
Chabula has netted two goals so far this season, picking up from the 15 he scored in Kitwe United’s promotion race last year.
The team leaves for South Africa on Thursday with the opening fixture being against Namibia on Saturday.
Zambia will join the tournament at the quarterfinal stage after having being among the top seeded teams in the region.
The Chipolopolo boys were runners up in the 2017 edition of the competition with Justin Shonga and Brian Mwila among the revelations of the tournament.

That strike force looks blunt. Don’t we have better strikers in Zambia? What happened to Brian Mwila?
Strike Force is worrying or is it because most goal scorers in the league are foreign ?

Papa, if you do watch the league, then you will Understand the coach’s selection .Brian mwila,is out of form.brian mwila is now not fit to the national team.The combination of Sate sate and kambole,is very deadly.This is the selection which would Ave gone to CHAN.I love the defence selection, the middle park excellent, the striking force very lethal.I do love this selection.
Good team selection. Chambeshi is a man with great vision. Do not worry about strike force.. He will score with midfielders and he will play with one striker.. 4..4..1:…1 formation.. I cant wait to see larry bwalya in action..
Why target midfielders for scoring ? that should be for tactical variation not the main strategy. We should just have proper strikers in those positions. Two strikers is best, whether 4-4-2, 3-5-2 or whatever. only employ 4-5-1 in away games. but for a tournament, better go full throttle.
I thought f.sakala was part of the final squad, anyway we’ll see how far this team can go.

What happened to the foreign based contingent?
Were is fashion sakala and Emanuel Banda. This are experience players coach you were suppose to use this cosafa game as the dressing rehearsal for Afcon. You were suppose to call professionals since it is off season

Good selection, the front line combination of sate sate and kambole is deadly.I do watch the supper league and Ave seen how kambole is lethal.sate sate, is the most intelligent striker at the moment in the league. Brian mwila,samu, are out of form,and are not fit to be in the national team.The midfield selection is excellent, so far the sharpest mid in the league. I love the defence selection. So far the best in the league. All in all this the best local selection.

This the best selection so far.People insulted him that he has picked bench warmers.Am sure we know now that he had good intentions. Namibia give us trouble at senior level. But at under 20 level we have been masterminds. Not to underestimate or disrespect them ,but we should send them back home by Saturday evening.

As for the strikers, SATE SATE, kambole,and chabula,are the most in form,strikers in the league. And these three are more than enough. This is best selection of local players with no bias.its very balanced.All the defenders are in form and all the midfielders are inform.This is the team which was suppose to go to CHAN
i also share your views no matter the outcomes of the matches but the picked players are inform and its abalanced team , as for strikers about half of the midfilders are attack minded . its up to the players to do their best otherwise thd coach has belief in them only if they transilate their league form on the international stage
Apart from fashion and banda I expected the duo of RSA based Shonga and Mulenga to be part of the setup. No binding issues about them for it has been done before.
I thank Quick Silver for considering Larry Bwalya. He is a genius on the ball.With Sate Sate upfront he can partner well.
Please mwebena Zambia learn to praise someone when they ‘ve done well.This is a relatively good team. The selection is good and for the first time after Nyirenda we have creative midfielders in the team.Let us just give them the necessary support these guys need.

Amazing how us Zambians always have this tendency to throw in the towel before even the first punch is thrown… Always so much focus on the negative. Even Sate sate who was a golden boy just a few weeks ago is all of a sudden a worry for some arm chair critics!!!!nxa!
I will be in Polokwane to watch the final when Zambia wins this cup with these same players….. and Sate Sate lifts the tournaments golden boot.

The coach has overlooked the poor performance of some local clubs at international level and local level where some of these players are picked, for instance zanaco with roster between posts performed poorly both home and away against manzini swallows, gentlemen, let’s be serious. Why not give chance to jacob banda,Why has he left out kapumbu,chaila,kondwani, silwimba,kabaso chongo,enerst mbewe, Augustine mulenga? This is a serious tournament where we need to show our prowess. I v no confidence that we shall go far in the tournament as most of the players lack exposure
If you watch the league, Mr Isaacs lungu,you could reserved that comment. It’s not a secret that Jacob banda,is a suspect in go.The Zesco team as a whole has not been playing good football. The coach is using the German philosophy of using the U23 team in preparation of the Olympics and all Africa. As for mutonga,chaila and kapumbu,thy still have a place in the national team,but for COSAFA, it’s better to use the u23 team.which has the strongest desire to win.
