Zambia national team Assistant coach Beston Chambeshi has revealed the reasoning behind the omission of Tanzania based midfield ace Clatous ‘Triple C’ Chota Chama from Morocco bound Chipolopolo squad.
After Aggrey Chiyangi decided to carry an all locally based side to the 2019 COSAFA Cup the fans expected one of the best performing Chipolopolo stars to make it to the Morocco bound squad but alas the former Zesco United midfielder was not summoned.
According to Chambeshi, The decision was made to leave out ‘Triple C’ because of the number of games he had played for his club. Chambeshi explained that Chama had a lot of games for Tanzanian giants Simba hence the rest awarded to him by way of leaving out of the squad.
He, however, emphasized that the tricky midfielder remained very much part of the Chipolopolo setup.
” He is one of our players, Good player. It’s just that some clubs had a lot of games so we decided to call players who did not have too many games he still part of us and we are looking forward to calling him back,” He said.
The team had their first training session on Thursday morning at Edwin Imboela Stadium with all the players summoned except for Stophila Sunzu who is nursing an injury and has been ruled out of the trip.
The Copper Bullets will be hosted by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation from June 6 – 17 as part of the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the two countries back in 2017.
Zambia will play reigning African champions Cameroon on June 9 in Madrid with another match set for June 12 against the Gambia in Casablanca. The team will conclude its assignment with a match against the Herve Renard tutored Morocco on June 16.

when a coach is making decisions on the team it must be transparent. so if Coach quicksilver thought tripple c played so many games, did he call him and have a chat and hear from him? what is the purpose of the friendlies? if the friendlies are meant to create team cohesnsion and for the coach to test out combinations, then the selection must be more mature. or its another chipantepante arrangements.
i read the friendlies are preparations for U23? am i correct
The friendly matches are preparations for u23 Triple C doesn’t fall under that category. Triple C is a classy player
He kicked out nkana from the caf champions league.
So Justin Shonga had less games batini?
This is what let’s down Zambian football. We remember how The same Chambeshi fielded a full strength team to play a rubber match well after the team had qualified for the under 20 finals in Lusaka. Any coach who claims to know him game would have rested his regular players to give those on the bench a chance… Leaving out triple C is just the usual jealous that dogs African soccer development.
