Chambeshi asks fans to have faith in his selection

Zambia national team head coach Beston Chambeshi has declared the team ready for tomorrow’s Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifier against Tunisia.

Chambeshi admitted that missing the English Premier League duo of Patson Daka and skipper Enock Mwepu will be a big blow but he is confident he has enough cover in the team.

“The boys are looking forward to tomorrow’s game. So far so good. The team is ready for tomorrow’s game,” he said.

“I think the Mauritania game was not easy, playing away from home in an artificial turf was not easy for the boys. We are looking at the whole team so that we play a collective game, we saw some lapses and we are working on that.

” Yes it is not easy, we have seen the level of Mwepu and Patson, they are dependable players. We have a lot of players in the country we have seen those players who can fill the gap, we believe and trust that the boys will come and do the job and for sure they give us a good game.

“We have prepared well, It’s true Tunisia is a good team but what we have told the Boys is just to believe in themselves, If they can do it away why not at home. I’m sure I and my technical team will psych the Boys so that they know they are here to prove their case,” he added.

The 2017 U-20 AFCON winning gaffer went on to ask the fans to have faith in the available players and rally behind them.

“Let’s believe in these Boys, the problem is that every soccer fan has his lineup. Get my line up and we will move together and you will have that confidence. To the soccer fans let’s rally behind this team, Build and support them. We are not saying we will give you bad results but we are here to deliver and see to it that we all smile,” he said.

Chambeshi added: Football is about scoring and we are trying our level best to make sure everyone gets involved in the scoring. Even a defender can score, If you have the chance to score, you need to score. For sure we are pushing on that.”

The team is free from injuries and Chambeshi believes the team has prepared well enough for the game.

“Boyd Musonda is fit to play tomorrow, I had a chat with the medic they assured the technical bench that he is ready to play.

“Yes, Tunisia beat Equatorial Guinea at home, nowadays there is no home advantage but it is about how you prepare your team, so we will see how we handle Tunisia tomorrow,” he said.

” I have a picture about Tunisia it’s just that the time was not good enough but I know the Arabs, I played them and played professional football in Tunisia so I will try to give the Boys the picture.

“There is excuse whether I came two days ago, whatever am in charge, We are working on telling the boys what to do and the importance of the game,” he added.

Zambia plays Tunisia on Tuesday at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola at 15:00 hours with only 5, 000 fans allowed for the match due to Covid-19 regulations by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

  1. If Boyd musonda is fit that’s quiet good, but don’t let him starts the game, period!

In that case we will believe your lineup selection.
It’s good that Kelvin will start the game and where you have placed brian we are safe.

  2. Overall i have no faith in Chambeshi… In my view he’s not competent enough to coach any national side. Even if we gave him Brazil he would still fail.

  3. Chambeshi is not the right coach for Zambia. Give the job to those white guys from Slovenia, as they are the reason we won the game

  4. Its a shame to see some people still believe in the colonial master, chambeshi is the same guy who took our under twenty to the quater finals, we wouldn’t have known the likes of Fashon, Mwepu and Patson if it wasn’t for him, why not believe in your own

  5. Having faith in the players you select is not the issue but rather what instructions you give them. If I were you area narking is critical. No defender should overlap as recovery under a counter attack will be compromised. What this means is for you to instruct your defenders not to cross the centre lube…period !

  6. It was no secret the boys from the EPL would not be available for the Tunisia clash and you had time to get decent replacements in place, instead you go and call up some name guys to fill in. What a joke! These jokers just never cease to amaze, it’s beyond ridiculous

  7. Faith indeed. But faith without works, is questionable. Our team is only able to play 45minutes, when we have a selection of 22 players. Can our technical bench read the game and make necessary changes. Local players are failing due to lack of technical coaching and approach to the game. Zambia vs Tunisia is a great test. Is our technical bench up to the task at hand? We are behind you, please, fight for the flag. All the best

  8. Chambeshi please do not select players for your team those who were at pick in 2017. Please select players who are active and regularly paying at there clubs and chose players on merity not those you love. Solomon and Boyd are not nation team materials.

  9. I would like to agree with all the comments from the guys here. I think the Coach is getting ahead of himself. Tunisia are two levels better than Mauritania.
If you think you can beat them with the players like Body Musonda then you wrong Coach Chambeshi.

We were not impressive against Mauritania with EM & PD. You have tested players like Larry Bwalya and Emmanuel Banda who you don’t want to call. Pride goes before a fall ba Coach.

  10. king kalu said that there is no local coach who can drill chipolopolo.the local coaches are not good enough. And the last coach to drill chipolopolo was king kalu and the team went on to win afcon. Faz should should emulate from south Africa they hired a good coach. The team is doing well.

  11. At your club you are on bench, national team starter no logic coach. Please coach remove boyd and solomon from your team these will take you nowhere, but failure will follow and accompany you and finally dismissal.

  12. Coach Chambeshi you should be serious! How do you expect such players to beat Tunisia! Emmanuel Banda, Sunzu, Lameck Banda, R Bwalya, Moses Phiri just to mention a few are all quality and inform players then you leave them out and make this joke of a national team! It will take a miracle from heaven for those guys to beat Tunisia and that’s if God forgives you for the corruption you’re doing!
