Toyota through CFAO Motors Zambia has handed over three vehicles to the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ).
The three high performance motor vehicles handed over to FAZ at a function at Toyota Zambia Nangwenya Road facility this morning in an expanded partnership comprises a Toyota Fortuner, Corolla Cross and RAV 4.
The three vehicles handed over are worth around $155,000 and CFAO Motors Zambia will also take care of the servicing and repair of the vehicles.
FAZ President, Andrew Kamanga in a speech read on his behalf by FAZ deputy General Secretary, Joseph Chimpampwe thanked CFAO Motors Zambia for being an all weather partner to the association.
“Today marks a great step in the development of our game. We are celebrating another step in the forging of partnerships with the corporate world in the development of our game. Toyota Zambia is one of the partners that came on board in the heat of a lean economic spell in the game.
In February 2021 Toyota Zambia came on board to support our Senior Men’s National Team with the donation of a top of the range Toyota Prado. It is a partnership that has gone some miles in easing the transport problems of the Head Coach of the Senior Men’s National Team. What made the partnership more meaningful is that Toyota came on board at the time Covid-19 had wreaked havoc with institutions reducing budgets for other activities.”
Kamanga also went on to urge more corporate bodies to come in board and partner with FAZ especially in the Women football space which has seen the Copper Queens take the continent and the world at large by storm.
“We hope other corporates can come on board and support football in the manner Toyota has done. We have no doubt that the support Toyota Zambia has given to the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) will inspire our national team bench to work even harder. We also wish to implore other corporate bodies to emulate Toyota Zambia to support football. There are other opportunities with other teams that can be emulated. The women space presents some opportunities for corporates that can support the Copper Queens as they prepare for the FIFA World Cup that will be staged in Australia/New Zealand. Our women’s league is yearning for more sponsors.”
CFAO Motors Zambia Chief Operating Officer, Nenad Predrevac said the vehicles are a token of appreciation to the national team for the betterment of football in Zambia.
“Today is a very special occasion, as Toyota by CFAO Motors Zambia hands over three vehicles – a Toyota Fortuner, a Corolla Cross and a RAV 4- for use during the contracted period as a token of appreciation to the national team for the betterment of football in Zambia.
“The game of football is enjoyed throughout the continent of Africa; it is a language that resonates with all of us. Even if we do not play it ourselves we all live out, in one way or the other.
“Even as we journey through the Africa Cup Qualifiers together, remember that we are supporting you, and that the game is won in the mind first before it is played on the field.
“Toyota by CFAO Motors Zambia presents three cars in recognition of the place Chipolopolo holds in the heart of the nation. The vehicles are also in support of the association’s continued drive towards putting Zambia at the top of African football once again.”
