Carol Kanyemba declares Copper Princesses ready for Tanzania clash

Zambia U17 Women’s National Team head coach Carol Kanyemba says the team has prepared adequately for tomorrow’s 2024 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup second round, first leg qualifier.

The Copper Princesses will play host to Tanzania at Nkoloma Stadium with the aim of starting the two legged tie on a good note.

Kanyemba went on to explain that the team will avoid aerial balls looking at the fact that the Zambian players are smaller than their Tanzanian counterparts.

“The team has prepared well so far. We have been in camp for three weeks. Our aim is not to concede in this game and to try and score as many goals as possible. This is a. World Cup qualifier, we want to have an advantage,” she said.

“We have managed to work on the things we wanted. We have done our part and it’s now up to the players.”

“We will avoid aerial balls and focus on playing the ball around. We have the players that can keep the ball and play it quickly to be able to beat Tanzania,” she added.

Kanyemba says the technical bench has psyched the players about the huge crowd they expect tomorrow and how to carry themselves with confidence.

“We have psyched the players about the huge crowd at home. We have told them to be confident and show what they are able to do,” she said.

“They play as a unit. They are very physical with huge bodies. They play a 4-4-2 formation which is what we have to play against if we are to win the game.”

Meanwhile skipper of the side, Blessings Zangose Zulu says it’s now up to the players to show up on match day as the coaches have done their part.

“We are very much prepared. It’s up to us now because the coaches did their work. We just have to work hard, and have enough courage. We have to score a lot of goals and avoid conceding,” she said.

“The fans should believe in us, and keep supporting us. Tomorrow we will do our best and deliver good news to them.”

Kick off at Nkoloma Stadium is set for 15h00 Central African Time.

Tickets available at K20 open wing and K50 VIP at Engine Service Stations along Ring Road, Garden, Chilumbulu, Munali, PHI, Addis Ababa Road next to Q Media, Chelston and Cosmopolitan.

Zambia will travel for the away fixture a week later. The winner over two legs will face Uganda or Cameroon in the third round.

Three African teams qualify for the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup to be held in the Dominican Republic after round four of the qualifiers.
