Zesco United have bowed out of the CAF Confederations Cup at the quarter final stage after they conceded an injury time goal to draw 2-2 against visiting SuperSport United.
The two teams played out to a goalless draw in the first leg and the results sees SuperSport advance on away goals.
John Chingandu gave the home said the lead in the 4th minute when he volleyed home from inside the box benefitting from a Kondwani Mtonga cross.
Thuso Phala levelled 30 minutes later when he shot low across the goal to beat Jacob Banda but Zesco looked stronger after he restart.
David Owino headed then back in the lead with Mtonga providing the assist again and Zesco could have scored more with Jesse Were denied by Williams from close range and Odhiambo seeing his thumping header come off the crossbar.
With only 60 seconds of the three minutes of added time to play, Phala found space at the back post to slam home at Banda’s near post.
Zesco were last year’s CAF Champions League semi finalists where the lost to South African outfit Mamelodi Sundowns.

Sure failing to defend a lead with just a minute to win it, Zesco did not want it and I feel Super Sport deserves to reach semi final and played like a team at home. ZESCO is on the decline with this muzungu coach and I doubt if they can even mount a challenge for the mtn super league.
Kondwani Mtonga,is weak in the middle of the pack even with the National Team.
I thought I was the only one who saw that weak link in defence.

Zesco is seriously not the same team at all. The striking speed, power, precision & size of Winstone Kalengo is surely missing. The midfield needs tweaking too. The team needs overhauling in all departments. Using these guys ku national team is even riskier.
Lesson learnt: “Bringing in a foreign coach does not necessarily mean instant success!” Personally i haven’t been impressed by the Krympotic guy. I can’t see anything new at Zesco other than what Chicken George left behind. To be honest this season is a failure by Zesco standards

thought I saw a wasteful ZESCO side that failed to convert chances that came there way. ZESCO’s undoing was failing to keep posession for long periods. They kept playing long balls that yielded nothing. If thats not enough, ZESCO seemed disorganised and lacked cohesion and self belief.
Bigups to Supersport United and their never ending ‘screaming’ coach. While ZESCO’s sat so relaxed, Tinkler rallied his charges. Well done Supersport. ZESCO need new life and maybe a different coach would do a betterjob.
I am equally worried with Simon Silwimba and Mtonga.Mtonga is not a ball winner and always disappears as the anchorman.Silwimba is short of height,speed,ball control and common sense.As Coaches,let us compare players before making selections.Can you Mtonga to Nathan,Thomas Nyirenda or Isaac Chansa in the middle.
Coming to the National team Wada seems to have concentrated with certain team.We have Mwila Phiri,Venesious Mapande and Spencer Sauti who are doing better with Green Eagles.Even Mwila Nsofwa from Lusaka Dynamos a better.Honestly,can you compare N’GONGA to Mapande,Mtonga to Nathan.Gentlemen, let us be serious, Nigeria is no Algeria although it may sound the same.With the team we will carry nothing materialize will come out Nigeria.I know Wada has a problem of team seletion even his assistants are stupid.How can you let your boss do a wrong thing and you are watching, its better to quit and people will respect you.
Mtonga’s work rate in the pitch is low.That is why Renard never used to Sate Sate because work rate but he is a good player

Kabaso Chongo, Nathan Sinkala n Master Kalaba should be given a chance to prove themselves . Mweene should remain captain but Kalaba has got to be in the squad.Let’s 4give n move on.

Well said .. We can beat nigeria if we add value to the existing structure. Mutonga should be replaced by nathan sinkala.. Kalaba should walk straight into the first team.. Kabaso and mbola should be recalled for national duty
We need a combative midfielder in Isaac Chansa’s caliber to win balls and eventually beat Nigeria in Uyo.
