Wydad Casablanca moved into second position in Group D of the CAF Champions League group stage with a 2 – 0 win over Coton Sport in Cameroon.
Casablanca took advantage against the whipping boys of the group as they scored a goal on either side of the half.
Coton Sport where condemned out of the competition after losing 1 – 0 to Zanaco and they have now lost all their five games in the group stage.
The result throws the group wide open with Casablanca, Al Ahly and Zanaco all having a chance to make the two qualifying slots in the group.
Zanaco lead the pack with 11 points with their next opponents Casablanca in second position on 9 points while Al Ahly have 8 points.
A draw away in Morocco will be enough to secure a quarter final berth for the Zambian champions.
A loss for Zanaco next week and a win for Ahly will see Zanaco exit the tournament as Al Ahly will have a better goal difference.
Numba Mumamba will bank on keeping the 9 game unbeaten run in the 2017 Champions League competition going.

ZANACO has qualified mathematically with 11 points. Assuming cotton sport beats ZANACO that means they remain at 11pts. If the other two teams draw they will have 10 and 9 points. Then ZANACO tops group. If any two beat the other ZANACO will be second meaning they have qualified. Unless if they not picking number in group. So job is done by ZANACO
Job not done bwana
Zanaco plays their last game against wydad away and the Egyptian plays their last game against conton sport
If Zanaco loses and the egptian wins against Coton sport then it’s games over for Zanaco
Unless a draw
you are right. you follow Zambian football
What a trick group, going all the way to the wire..
Surely ZANACO should have finished the job in Lusaka. Having been good travellers so far, I hope Zanaco can atleast get a draw in Morocco.
Zanaco lack a top finisher and creative midfielder.
Tough luck.
Al Ahly will definitely beat Cotton and end on 11 points. The Wydad Coach and N.Munamba the Zanaco Coach know this.
Wydad draw against Zanaco they end on 10 points, then they out and Zanaco ends with 12 points top the Group. So its ether Zanaco or Wydad to join Al Ahly who will finish 2nd in this group. There is no way Cotton can beat the Egyptians in Cairo or Alexandra.
This will be one of the toughest games Zanaco will ever play in their history.
Zanaco made a mistake to draw with the Egyptians who are a tough customer. This may come back to haunt them.
All the best in Morocco. “Eyes on the Ball”
Sorry to say we are still not there like our friend from North Africa
