Nkana Football Club on Sunday will this afternoon return to CAF assignment, as they will be taking on Tanzanian outfit Namungo FC a side which they beat 1 nill a week ago.
Winger diamond Chikwekwe scored the only goal of the game in the reverse fixture as the Zambia Super League defending Champions recorded their first win of the group stage.
Speaking to the ZamFoot Crew during a pre-match press conference head coach Kelvin Kaindu said a victory this afternoon will give his side some hope and mount pressure on Pyramids as well as Raja Casablanca of Morocco.
“Our preparations are okay so far we are ready for the return fixture, I think the victory we recorded away from home gave us a bit of hope and hoping that we work against complacence but if we can manage to pick another 3 points, It will give us hope of catching up with other teams [Pyramids, Raja club],” he said.
“Yes we are struggling in the local league but at least CAF games are giving us some hope with the inclusion of four other players in the squad will add depth to the team but I think we also have to up our gear in the local league,” Kaindu told the ZamFoot Crew.
Meanwhile, Nkana team captain Richard Ocran says the competition is still open and Nkana can still qualify.
“We are ready for the game, the table is still open so as for now we just have to focus on winning tomorrow’s (today) game so that we give pressure to the Egyptians and Moroccans,” Ocran said.
Kaindu went on to reveal that he is going to maintain the same team which recorded a victory in Tanzania, and also confirmed that Kelvin Mapulanga is still out as he has Malaria while striker Fredy Tshimenga will be back after recovering from an injury.
A win for Nkana will take them to 6 points [and should Raja Casablanca win the other game,] equal with Pyramids. Kick-off is set for 15:00hours from the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
