CAF CC: Advantage Nkana as Al Hilal are held by Asante Kotoko

Nkana will go into the final round of the CAF Confederation Cup group stage games as group C leaders after Asante Kotoko were held toa 1 – 1 draw at home by Al Hilal.

The Sudanese side Al Hilal led in Ghana with a 33rd minute goal scored by Waleed Bhaket Hamid and were looking like they will seal qualification with a game to spare.

Buoyed by the partisan home, Kotoko left it late to level when Songne finished off a Gyamfi pass in the 86th minute.

The result leaves Nkana on top on 9 points, with Al Hilal their next opponents on 8 points.

Asante Kotoko who will be travelling to Ndola for their final group game next Sunday have 7 points while bottom placed Zesco United who have no chance of qualifying to the quarter finals are on 4 points.

Nkana still have work to do as they have to at least pick a draw away against Al Hilal to be sure of qualification.

  1. corection, a draw away wil b enuf, even if kotoko beat zesvco. it will mean al hilal will be out with 9 points while nkana and kotoko would have wd have 10 apiece

  2. ZESCO should do Nkana a favour by beating Kotoko, as winning or drawing in Sudan is unlikely. The best is for Zesco to damaged Kotoko and we then have a club in the 1/4 finals

    My opinion

  3. Ba ZESCO just have to do themselves a favour, which will in turn be a bonus for Nkana.
    Crush Asante Kotoko.
Is such a continental ‘powerhouse’ as ZESCO ready to go out bottom of what seemed an easy group for them?
Is ZESCO ready to lose a continental game at their backyard, and consequently lose 4 games in these preparations?
I don’t think so, they also have a reputation to uphold.
