With the Zambia Super League set to kick off on 11th September, Teams are busy shaping up for the new season.
Ndola-based side, Buildcon has seen several players like Eric Owusu, Isaac Shamujompa, etc leave the club in the recent past. Several fans have become concerned about the club and whether everything is okay with Team Kopala.
The ZamFoot Crew went on the fact-finding mission on the Copperbelt to understand what is going on with Team Kopala. The ZamFoot Crew now understands that several players are set to finalize their moves to the club.
Striker Ronald Chibwe and winger Joseph Mwindilila are set to become Buildcon players after leaving Green Eagles.
Other players set to join are young Thomas Mubita and midfielder Sam Chilupe who was very influential for Young Green Eagles last season.
“We are still negotiating with some players and we will make an announcement soon enough,” a source at the club told the ZamFoot Crew.
Team Kopala is prioritizing local talent like they did last season and will be looking to put in a credible push for the top four.
Meanwhile Chipolopolo Boys forward Brian Mwila will stay at the club and is expected to be named captain of the Ndola-based outfit.
The former Austrian-based Chipolopolo forward was Buildcon’s top goalscorer last season with nine goals. He will again be key to team Kopala’s campaign.
In the 2020/2021 season, the team finished in 11th place and will be looking to do better this time around.
Team Kopala had their first and only continental outing in the 2019/2020 season three years after making their Zambian top-flight league debut.
The campaign however only lasted one round as they were eliminated by Young Buffaloes of Eswatini in the preliminary round losing 2-1 on aggregate.
Buildcon will start their season with an away fixture in Choma against Green Eagles.
