Buildcon, Lusaka Dynamos ineligible insists Kashala

Football Association of Zambia says suspended Super League side Buildcon and National Division One outfit Lusaka Dynamos still have slots but don’t meet the club licence criteria.

FAZ general secretary Adrian Kashala told The Mast Sports that there are other teams yearning for the two slots and waiting for decision that is yet to be made.

Last week, FAZ suspended Buildcon and Lusaka Dynamos from the Zambian league for failure to meet the club licence criteria ahead of the season that starts this weekend.

“The two teams are not eligible to play as at now. We want to be very categorical that as it stands, Lusaka Dynamos and Buildcon are not eligible to play as at now,” he said.

“They do have the slots but they don’t qualify on the club licence criteria. They need to meet our benchmarks and make sure they are out of that situation.”

Kashala said in a situation that the clubs fail to meet the licence criteria, they may not be replaced and the league can continue with 17 teams.

“Teams are there to replace them. There are yearning, waiting for such an opportunity but it’s a decision yet to be made weather we can go with a number down or we need to replace them,” said Kashala. “We can leave the 17 teams play and have a bye on every team that is supposed to face them and the points won’t count. My office will have to make a proposal to the Exco and wait for the decision to be made.”
