Green Buffaloes started their Hollywoodbets COSAFA Women’s Champions League campaign with a bang thatshing Eswatini club 4-0 in their opening game.
The female Computer, Ireen Lungu netted a brace while Hellen Chanda and Anita Mulenga scored a goal each to complete a comprehensive win.
The Zambia army sponsored side started strong and had a chance to score two minutes in but Hellen Chanda ‘s shot went wide.
Theresa Chewe had a chance to score in the 7th minute but her effort went wide. Chanda put the ball behind the net three minutes later but it was ruled out for offside.
After a few missed chances, Ireen Lungu finally put the Zambian Champions in the lead with a fine finish from a close after being put on goal by Natasha Nanyangwe in the 33rd minute.
Hellen Chanda doubled the lead in the 42nd minute, heading in a Lushomo Mweemba brilliant cross.
The match went to the break with Buffaloes in control with a comfortable lead.
The second half started the way the first ended with Buffaloes in the driving seat. Natasha Nanyangwe had a chance to increase the lead and with only the keeper to beat she somehow missed the opportunity.
Another glorious chance came begging in the 58th minute but again Buffaloes failed to capitalize.
Second half substitute Anita Mulenga quickly put her name on the score sheet as she netted a brilliant long range free kick just a few minutes after being introduced.
Lungu completed her brace five minutes to time to seal a well deserved 4-0 win. Midfielder Judith Zulu was named as the player of the match.
Next uup for Green Buffaloes is Olympique de Motoni of Comoros on Tuesday at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium with a win guaranteeing their place in the final.
