Buffaloes Reclaim Top Spot as Indeni End ZANACO Ladies’ 13-Match Unbeaten Run

Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club returned to the summit of the ZPL Women’s Super League on Sunday after a spirited 2–1 comeback victory over Green Eagles, while Indeni Roses brought an end to ZANACO Ladies’ impressive 13-match unbeaten run with a narrow win in Ndola.

At NASDEC, Buffaloes showed title credentials by overturning a first-half deficit to secure all three points. Rachael Moono gave Green Eagles the lead in the 21st minute, putting the Albert Mphande-coached side in control at the break. However, Buffaloes responded strongly in the second half. Agness Phiri calmly converted a penalty in the 74th minute to level matters before Regina Kayamboma struck just two minutes later to complete the turnaround. The victory lifts Buffaloes to 53 points, reclaiming top spot and leapfrogging defending champions ZESCO Ndola Girls.

In Ndola, Indeni Roses produced one of the results of the weekend by defeating ZANACO Ladies 1–0, ending the Lusaka side’s 13-match unbeaten streak. The decisive moment came early, with Hellen Banda converting from the penalty spot in the 4th minute to hand Indeni a morale-boosting win against one of the league’s most consistent sides this season.

Elsewhere, Nchanga Rangers Queens and Red Arrows Women played out an entertaining 2–2 draw at Nkoloma Stadium. Sarrive Lobo Badiambila opened the scoring for the visitors in the 31st minute before Falensi Sakala equalised for Red Arrows in the 40th. Hope Nalungwe restored Nchanga’s lead in the 72nd minute, only for Mary Mulenga to rescue a point for Arrows with a 75th-minute penalty.

At Edwin Imboela Stadium, Nkwazi Queens finally ended a nine-match winless run with a convincing 2–0 victory over Luyando Foundation Girls. Early goals from Zewelanji Nambeye in the 9th minute and Suwilanji Chibesa in the 30th minute secured a much-needed win for the Queens.

National Assembly edged Kamfinsa Police Blue Eagles 1–0, courtesy of a late strike from Lilian Mwaba in the 86th minute, while ZISD FC and Elite Ladies settled for a goalless draw in a tightly contested encounter.

Sunday’s results further tightened the title race at the top of the ZPL Women’s Super League and underlined the growing intensity across the table as teams battle for championship honours and survival.
