Buffaloes’ Mwimazi returns from injury ahead of the Zesco

Green Buffaloes have received a huge boast ahead of this weekend’s MTN Super League clash against title chasing Zesco United after the return to training of defender Friedrick Mwimazi.

Mwimazi has been out on the sidelines with knee injury for close to six weeks.

Green Buffaloes coach Justin Chinama is definitely delighted with the return of one of his key defenders.

In his absence, Chinama has tried pairing either Kayawe Kapota or Gift Wamundila with captain Chilimba Moonga.

Mwimazi has been one of the revelations of the season with calm presence at the heart of the Buffaloes defence.

The former Lumwana and Kabwe Warriors man has already plaudits with some pundits comparing him to the legendary Chipolopolo defender Elijah Litana.

The ball playing centre back will hope to pass a late fitness test for this Saturday’s clash against Zesco United at Sunset Stadium in a lunch time kickoff.

Should the 23 year old start he will be up against either veteran striker Winstone Kalengo or Jesse Were.

Alongside the likes of Golden Mashata, Leonard Mulenga and Lazarous Muchinga, the Kasama native is seen as Buffaloes’ symbol of present and future.

Green Buffaloes are currently 15th on the log with 23 points.

Nkana, Lumwana and Kitwe United are the other teams in the drop zone.
